Round 1: Ch 3, do not turn, work 11 dc into ring (12 sts). Place marker or safety pin on turning ch to keep track of beginning of rounds. Move marker up with each round.
Round 2: Work 2 dc in top of ch in prev row, 2 dc in ea dc of prev rnd (24 dc).
Round 3: *1 dc in 1st dc, 2 dc in next dc; repeat from * to end of rnd (36 sts).
Round 4: *2 dc in 1st dc, 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc; repeat from * to end of round (48 sts).
Round 5: 1 dc in ea of the first 2 dc, *2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in ea of next 3 dc; repeat from * to end of rnd ending with 1 dc in last st (60 sts).

Finished Sizes: Adult Small 19”, Large 21”
Directions are given for size small. Changes for large are in parentheses.
Materials Needed: 3-1/2 (4) oz [98(112) grams] worsted weight yarn
Size I (5-1/2 mm) crochet hook
yarn needle
Gauge: sc, working in back loop only, on size I hook, 7 sts = 2”, 4 rows = 1”
Be sure your own gauge corresponds with this gauge. Adjust hook size if necessary.
Hat Instructions:
Loosely ch 41(46).
Row 1: (wrong side row) Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end. There are 40(45) sc. Ch 1, turn.
NOTE: Work in back loop only through all following rows.
Row 2: (right side row) Work 35(40) sc, sk last 5 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Work 35(40) sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 4: Work 40(45) sc, working into the sc sts left unworked in Row 2. Ch 1, turn.
Row 5: Work 40(45) sc. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Rows 2-5 until piece measure 19” (21”) at the widest end. Last row worked is Row 4.
Finishing:
With right sides facing, fold hat so the first and last row worked meet each other. Working from top to bottom of hat, sl st across last row completed and first row, being careful to match stitches. Break off yarn. Thread a 12” length of yarn into a yarn needle. With yarn needle, weave through sts at top of hat drawing sts together tightly. Fasten yarn securely on the wrong side. Finish off all yarn ends into seam on wrong side. Turn up edge of hat like a cuff.
Optional: Make and attach a pom-pom firmly to top of hat by threading the tails from the pom-pom through to the inside of hat. Secure the tails on the inside and weave in ends. See How-To Make A Pom-Pom.

Work in back loops of sc throughout slipper. (Child’s size in parenthesis)
Ch (8)11, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across row (7)10 sc. Continue for (20)22 rows, or for desired toe width. Turn and working along side edge put 1 sc in each row (20)25 sc. Work back and forth for (12)20 rows or for desired length of foot. Fasten off. Sew together the first (20)25 rows to form toe section. Fold other end in half and sew up to form heel.
Edging: Sc in each row around, join with sl st. Ch 3 make 2 dc in same space, sl st into next st. Ch 3, and 2 dc continue on around. Fasten off. Make chain approx. 27” long. Thread the chain in and out below the edging – starting in front and going around and ending in front and tie a bow.

Materials: worsted weight yarn – 4.5 (5, 5.5 ) oz. [approx. 127.8 (142, 156.2) grams], any combination of scrap yarn can be used. Aluminum crochet hook – size H (5.5 mm) or size needed for gauge. Tapestry or yarn needle.

Instructions
Note: Use double strand throughout. Colors may be changed at random.
Sole (make 2): Ch 7(7,8) loosely.

Row 8: Sc in first hdc, *dc in next sc, sc in next dc* rep *.* to last st, hdc (22,24,26 sts). Ch 1, turn. Keeping front edge even, continue in pattern, inc 3 times at underarm edge as on Back. Work even on 25(27,29) sts to same length as Back to armholes, end at underarm edge.
Armhole: Shape as on 1 side of Back (18,20,22 sts). Work 2 rows even, end at underarm edge. Ch 1, turn.
Neck:
Row 1: Work in pattern to last 2 sts, hdc in next st (17,19,21 sts). Ch 2, turn.
Row 2: Sc in next dc, continue in pattern to end (17,19,21 sts). Ch 1, turn.
row 3: Work pattern to last 2 sts, hdc in last sc (16,18,20 sts). Ch 1, turn.
Row 4: Rep Row 2 (16,18,20 sts). Rep last 4 rows 4 times. Work on 8(10,12) sts to same length as Back. Fasten off.
FINISHING: Join shoulder and side seams.
BAND: Join yarn at left underarm seam.
Round 1: From right side, work sc in each st on lower edge, continue sc on edge of point (spacing sts to keep edge flat) to cast on sts for point, sc in each of 2(4,6) sts, 2 sc in each of next 2 sts (mark), continue in sc on other side of point (spacing sts to keep flat) to last inc row. 2 sc in last inc row (mark), sc on front edge to first neck dec, 2 sc in dec (mark), continue sc on front and across back neck edge. Round 2: Sc in each sc, 2 sc at points and marked sts, join. Ch 1. With pins mark places on right front edge for buttonholes, first pin opposite first marker (top of point), last pin opposite neck dec marker, other pins evenly spaced between.
Round 3: work as Round 2 to first pin, ch 1, sk 1 st for buttonhole, *sc in each st to next pin, ch 1, sk 1 st* Rep *.* until all buttonholes are completed, continue as Round 2 to end. Join.

Continue working even until side edge measures 1” less than Back to underarm, end side edge.
Shape Neck and Armhole: Dec 1 st at center of next row, then every 4th row 3 times, every 3rd row 2(4,6) times; at the same time, when side edge measures same as Back, bind off 4 sc at arm side once, then dec 1 st at same edge every row 4(6,8) times. When center dec are completed, work even if necessary on rem 10(10,11) sc until armhole measures same as Back.
Shape Shoulder: Bind off 3 sc at arm side once, 3 sc at arm side of next row. Fasten off.
LEFT FRONT: Work same as for Right Front reversing pattern and shaping. Join shoulder and side seams.
OUTER BORDER: Round 1: Join yarn in lower left side seam; from right side, work sc around entire outer edge of vest, working 3 sc in each point and 2 sc at start of neck shaping, having the same number of sc on each front. Join with sl st in first sc. Ch 1, do not turn. With pins, mark the position of 5 buttonholes on right front edge, having first buttonhole ½” above lower front edge, 5th buttonhole ½” below start of neck shaping.
Round 2: Working 3 sc in each point, *sc in each st to within 1 st before pin, ch 2, sk next 2 sc, sc in next sc* rep *.* 4 times, sc in each rem sc. Join.
Round 3: Sc in each sc and ch around.
Round 4 & 5: Sc in each sc, working 3 sc in each point. Fasten off.
FINISHING: Block as required. Sew pocket linings to wrong side of Fronts; work 5 rows sc along upper edge of pocket openings. Sew side edge of pocket to border in place. Work 5 rounds sc around each armhole, dec at curve of underarm and shoulder as required to fit. Sew on buttons. Weave in ends.

1 skein worsted weight yarn
for small/medium, size “K” and “N” crochet hooks
for large, size “N” and “Q” crochet hooks
Instructions are for small/medium with large in parenthesis.
Ribbing: With K(N) hook, ch 9(7).
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across row, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: sc in back loop across, ch 1, turn. Repeat 34(30) times. at end, ch 1, do not turn.
Body: With N(Q) hook.
Row 1: Working along long edge, loosely work 36(32) sc, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Loosely work 36(32) sc, ch 1, turn. Repeat 28 times.
Make 2.
Join pieces together at side seams leaving 7” open at top for armholes. Join shoulder seam, leaving 10” open at center for neck.
Belt: ch 40, finish off. Weave through loops.

crochet “J” hook or whatever sized hook is needed to produce the gauge
gauge: long dc are drawn up to measure 1-1/2”
Ch 5, join with a sl st to form a ring, ch 5.
Row 1: 7 long dc in ring (shell). Ch 3, turn.
Row 2: dc in 2nd st from hook and in each long dc of shell around row. End dc in top of turning ch. Ch 5, turn.
Row 3: 7 long dc in 1st dc (shell made), hdc in center st of same shell, 8 long dc in top of turning ch (shell made), ch 3, turn.
Row 4: 1 dc in 2nd st from hook and in each long dc of shell, hdc around hdc of previous row, 1 dc in each long dc of shell. End, dc in top of turning ch. Ch 5, turn.
Row 5: 7 long dc in 1st dc (shell made), hdc in center st of same shell, 8 long dc in top of next hdc, hdc in center of next shell. End, 8 long dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn.
Repeat rows 4 and 5 for pattern.
Continue until there are 19 shells across top edge or desired length. End with row 5 of pattern.

Row 7: Ch 1, do not turn, work 1 sc in each dc across row toward right hand skipping hdc, do not fasten off on last st. Working along side edge, *ch 9, sc into base of each shell*. Repeat *.* along side edge, bottom, and other edge. Ch 9 turn, *sc under each loop, ch 9* repeat *.* for 2 rows. End sc under last loop. Fasten off.
Fringe: Cut 10 strands of yarn 12” in length. Fold in half, draw through and under each ch 9 loop.
